Temperatures climb above 30C (86F) in the south east again today but a change is beginning to take place. Cooler and fresher Atlantic air will push eastwards during the next couple of days. The medium term outlook is mixed. All regions could see rain at times but the most unsettled weather is expected to be in the north....READ IN FULL

Tuesday starts with rain in parts of the north west and thundery showers in the south west. Elsewhere it is dry. Through the day thunderstorms are possible in much of England and Wales. They will be hit and miss and the south east is likely to remain fine. Rain continues in the north west of the UK but much of Scotland has a dry day.

Temperatures range from 18C (64F) in the north west to a hot 32C (90F) in the south east. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight thunderstorms clear from north eastern Britain. Outbreaks of rain continue in the north west and later in the night they spread more widely across the west. Other areas remain dry.

Winter 2019/20 weather [NEW]


Tomorrow a band of wet weather pushes eastwards. By the early evening it is expected to stretch from the south west up to north eastern England. Brighter conditions return behind it in the west. The south eastern corner probably remains dry but there will be more cloud and temperatures won't be as high as in recent days.

Cooler and more changeable

Thursday brings outbreaks of rain to the north and west. The south and east should be mainly dry with sunny spells. It will be cooler than recently, although in the south east it still feels warm in the sun.

Through Friday a band of persistent rain pushes down across the northern half of the country. Ahead of it some warm sunny spells develop.

On Saturday outbreaks of rain clear southeastwards. Blustery showers follow and in Scotland more persistent outbreaks of rain are possible. Sunday brings a mix of sunny spells and showers.
