Changeable weather continues in the north and west today. The south will be dry. During the next few days it becomes very warm or hot in southern and central regions. The fine weather spreads northwards and the weekend prospects are looking very good. There is a chance of it being the warmest late August bank holiday on record....READ IN FULL
Thursday starts with rain in northern England, Northern Ireland and Wales. There are showers in the far north west too but other areas are dry. Through the day rain continues to affect parts of the north and west. Elsewhere it stays dry with the best of the sunshine in the south and far north. The weather for the third Ashes Test Match which starts at Headingley today is looking mixed.
Temperatures range from 16C (61F) in the north west to 25C (77F) in East Anglia. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow is looking mostly dry but rain continues in the far north. There will be sunny periods with the best of them in the south. Temperatures in southern England could reach 27C (81F) and 23C (73F) is possible in eastern Scotland.

The weekend is looking fine for most. Cloud amounts vary but in sunny periods it becomes hot in southern and central Britain. By Sunday temperatures could reach 32C (90F). In the far north west there may be patchy outbreaks of rain on Saturday.
The summery weather continues for most on Bank Holiday Monday. Outbreaks of rain could affect the far north west but in other areas a dry and sunny day is likely. Temperatures in the south exceed 30C (86F).
The hot weather probably continues in the south during Tuesday. In the north and west the risk of showery rain increases. Through the middle of the week cooler and showery conditions probably return southeastwards. Thereafter a more changeable set-up is favoured.
