Changeable conditions continue in the north and west during the next couple of days. The south will be mostly dry. Temperatures climb as high pressure builds and by Friday it becomes very warm in southern and central regions. The warmth probably spreads northwards and the bank holiday weekend could be hot in the south....READ IN FULL
Tuesday starts with showers in the north. Elsewhere it is mainly dry. Through the day showery rain moves eastwards across the northern half of Britain. Further showers follow into the north west. Southern and central regions have a good deal of dry and bright weather.
Temperatures won't be far off the mid August average. Values range from 16C (61F) in the north west to 22C (72F) in the south east. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Winter 2019/20 weather [NEW]
Tomorrow heavy outbreaks of rain push across the north and west. In central England and Wales showery rain is possible but there should be some brighter spells too. The best of the weather will be in southern England where it stays dry with sunny spells. Cool in the wet areas but feeling warm in the sun.

On Thursday further outbreaks of rain push across Northern Ireland and into Scotland. Much of England and Wales should be dry with sunny spells, although scattered showers remain possible.
Friday is looking dry in much of the country. There will be sunny spells with the best of them probably in southern counties. Temperatures in southern England could reach 28C (82F) and 22C (72F) is a possibility in eastern Scotland.
The weekend and bank holiday Monday now fine across the southern half of the UK. It could become hot in the south with temperatures reaching 31C (88F) on Sunday. In the north there is a greater risk of more changeable conditions.
