Possible improvement next week

Thursday should be drier and brighter, although some showers are likely with most of them in northern and eastern England. It will be a little warmer than in recent days, particularly in the south east and East Anglia.

During Friday another batch of wet and windy weather spreads eastwards across the UK. The rain becomes heavy and in western counties gales are possible.

The unsettled theme continues this weekend. All regions have further rain and it remains windy. Some drier periods are expected with the best of them in the south.

Next week starts unsettled but later on high pressure may begin to build from the south and have more influence. If that happens southern and central counties can expect drier periods. In the north it probably remains more mixed.
