Southern and central regions will be unusually windy for mid-August today. Gusts are likely to exceed 50mph in exposed locations. Showery and rather cool conditions continue during the next few days. The driest and brightest conditions will generally be in the south....READ IN FULL
Saturday starts with showers in much of northern and western Britain. Elsewhere it is mainly dry. Through the day showers become more widespread. The south east should be mainly dry and bright, although scattered showers are possible. It will be very windy in southern and central areas. Gusts of over 50mph are likely at times and with trees in full leaf there is the potential for travel disruption.
Temperatures range from 16C (61F) in the far north to 22C (72F) in the south east and East Anglia. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow heavy and thundery showers affect parts of northern Britain. Southern and central areas have scattered showers but also a good deal of dry and bright periods. It will be less windy.

The mixed theme continues on Monday. Heavy showers are most likely in central and northern areas. The south should be mainly dry and bright. It will be quite cool for mid-August.
Through the rest of next week it remains changeable. All regions have showers or longer spells of rain. There will be drier and brighter periods too with the best of them in the south.
The Perseids meteor shower peaks on Monday night. At this stage the prospects are reasonably hopeful. Showers during the day should fade away to leave clear spells.
