Downpours spread northwards across most of the UK today and they lead to the risk of flash flooding in places. The rest of the week is looking showery. Tuesday starts with heavy showers in the south west, south Wales and parts of Northern Ireland. There is patchy rain in parts of northern England too but elsewhere it is mainly dry. Through the day thundery showers spread northeastwards and they become heavy. In places cloudbursts could lead to localised flooding and difficult driving conditions. Parts of East Anglia and the far south east may miss the worst of them and northern Scotland could be mostly dry until mid afternoon. In between the showers sunny spells develop but it will be windy in southern and central areas.
Temperatures range from 18C (64F) in the west to 25C (77F) in north eastern Scotland. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Through Thursday and Friday showers continue. There will still be some heavy ones around but they become more scattered with most of them in the northern half of the UK. The south should have warm sunny periods.
The weather this weekend is expected to remain changeable. As low pressure becomes slow moving to the west of the UK it is possible that central and eastern England will have mainly fine weather. There is uncertainty though and showers could be more widespread.
Next week is currently looking quite unsettled with wet weather possible in all regions. Drier and brighter periods are likely too and temperatures probably remain close to the seasonal average overall.
