Changeable and cooler outlook

Heavy rain continues in some central and northwestern areas today. Elsewhere there will be some pleasantly warm sunshine. The week ahead looks changeable and all regions can expect to see showery rain. Hot conditions are not expected to return during the first third of August....READ IN FULL

Sunday starts with a band of rain stretching from East Anglia across the Midlands and up to south western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Through the day heavy outbreaks of rain will be slow moving in those areas. To the north east there will be a mix of sunny spells and showers. To the south a mainly dry day is expected and the south west has pleasant periods of sunshine.

In the wet areas it will be cool. Northern Scotland and southern England have the highest temperatures with 23C (73F) possible. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight the rain edges a little further northwards. Showers to the northeast of it fade away and to the south it remains mainly dry.

Tomorrow conditions become more showery in the north. Southern and central regions have sunny periods, but in the south west cloud builds. In the afternoon outbreaks of rain return. In the sun it feels pleasantly warm.

Changeable outlook

Through Tuesday outbreaks of heavy rain spread steadily northeastwards over much of the UK. Scotland and north eastern England could be dry in the morning.

The weather remains changeable on Wednesday and Thursday. Heavy showers are possible at times. There will be warm sunny spells too with temperatures climbing into the mid 20Cs. 

The mixed theme continues through the second half of the week. All regions could see showers but warm sunny spells too. Hot conditions are not expected to return.
