Saturday is off to a wet start in much of England and Scotland. Wales, the South West and Northern Ireland are drier. Through the day heavy outbreaks of rain will be slow moving but brighter conditions should return to central and eastern Scotland this afternoon. By early evening the rain could edge into parts of northern Wales and Northern Ireland.

In the wet areas it will be cool. The highest temperatures will be in North East Scotland and South West England where 23C (73F) is possible. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Through Tuesday outbreaks of rain spread steadily northeastwards over much of the UK. Scotland and north eastern England could be dry for much of the day.

The changeable weather is expected to continue through the second half of the week. All regions could see showers but there should be some warm sunny spells too, especially in the south. Hot conditions are not expected to return.
