[Updated 06:50 04/06/2019]

Downpour

Much of the UK has wet weather today and there will be some very heavy outbreaks of rain in places. Through the rest of the week areas of low pressure keep the unsettled theme going. Temperatures generally remain on the low side for June....READ IN FULL

Tuesday starts with rain in Wales and the south west. In other areas there are a few showers but it is mainly dry. Through the day heavy rain spread northeastwards. In the south east and East Anglia some sunny spells are likely but heavy showers develop. Significant rainfall is likely in much of the country, but brighter conditions return to the south west this afternoon and northern Scotland should stay dry.

Temperatures range from 12C (54F) in the west to 18C (64F) central England. It's possible 21C (70F) could be pipped in East Anglia before it turns wet. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Summer forecast Issued 01/06/2019

Tomorrow outbreaks of rain move northwards across Scotland and slowly ease. Elsewhere a few heavy showers are expected but there should be a good deal of dry weather. Cloud breaks at times to give some bright spells. England and Wales will be warmer than today.

Low pressure dominates

Unsettled conditions continue through the rest of the week. All regions have showers or more prolonged spells of rain. At times the rain becomes heavy. It will often be rather cool and windy.

The mixed theme continues next week. Some computer model runs show it becoming a lot warmer, but most have the risk of showers or longer spells of rain continuing.
