Much warmer in the south

Wet weather continues in the north and west of the UK today. In the south it will be warmer and drier as a ridge of high pressure builds. Tomorrow looks similar but on Saturday the warmth spreads northwards. It is expected to be a brief taste of summer and by Sunday it becomes more changeable from the northwest....READ IN FULL

Thursday starts with rain in the north and west. Elsewhere it is dry. Southern and central counties have a fine day with sunny spells and variable amounts of cloud. It will be much warmer than yesterday. The north west has further heavy outbreaks of rain and in other western areas it remains damp.

Temperatures range from 10C (50F) in northern Scotland to 23C (73F) in brighter parts of England. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight little changes. Outbreaks of rain continue in the north and west. Southern, central and eastern counties of England have a dry and very mild night.

Summer 2019 weather [NEW]


Tomorrow it stays mixed. Rain continues in the north and in the north west it will be heavy. Wales and much of western England should be drier and brighter than today. Elsewhere warm sunny periods develop and if anything temperatures edge a little higher than today's in the south.

Very warm weekend

On Saturday showers become mainly confined to the north west. Other areas have a dry day. It will be very warm across the southern half of the UK with temperatures close to 27C (81F).

The very warm or even hot conditions continue in central and eastern England on Sunday. During the afternoon there is the possibility of isolated thunderstorms in East Anglia and the south east. Elsewhere showery outbreaks of rain and cooler air  steadily return from the west.

Changeable weather returns to all of the UK early next week.
