Wet weather for many today

Wet weather spreads across much of the UK today. The changeable theme continues during the next couple of days but in the south it becomes warmer and drier. The weekend is looking very warm in southern and eastern England. Elsewhere the risk of rain may return by Sunday....READ IN FULL

Wednesday starts wet in Wales and western England. Through the day outbreaks of rain steadily spread northeastwards. Much of eastern England and Scotland should remain mainly dry until the second half of the day. In the south west the rain should ease off this afternoon.

Temperatures range from 10C (50F) in the far north to 18C (64F) in eastern England ahead of the wet weather. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight outbreaks of rain continue in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Many other areas become drier but showers feed into western England and Wales.

Tomorrow showery rain affects the north and west of the UK. In the north west some heavy outbreaks are likely. Elsewhere it should be dry. In southern England sunny spells develop and it will be much warmer than today.

Very warm weekend?

The mixed theme continues on Friday. The north has showery spells of rain and in the north west they could be heavy. Much of England should be dry. The south and east become warm in sunny spells.

On Saturday showers continue in the north but they become more scattered. Southern and central counties have a dry and very warm day. Temperatures could reach 27C (81F).

The fine conditions continue in central and eastern England on Sunday. Elsewhere there is a growing likelihood of it turning cooler and wetter from the west.

Cooler and showery weather is expected to return to all of the UK by the early part of next week.
