[Updated 07:15 17/05/2019]

Overcast weather

The weather is turning more changeable and most of the UK can expect some rain in the next few days. There will also be some warm spells of sunshine, particularly in the south where thunderstorms could develop. Day to day details vary next week but the mixed theme continues....READ IN FULL

Friday starts with a band of rain stretching from southern Wales, up through western England, and into southern Scotland. It should ease off this morning but patchy outbreaks continue in England and Wales through the day. Northern Ireland and Scotland remain mainly dry. There will be sunny spells with the best of them in central and northern areas.

Temperatures range from 13C (55F) in the cloudy south to 21C (70F) in western Scotland. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Summer 2019 weather [NEW]

Tomorrow it's a very mixed picture. In parts of Scotland outbreaks of rain last for much of the day. Other areas have sunny spells but showers bubble up. In the south they could be thundery. Southern and central counties have the best of the brighter periods and that is where the highest temperatures will be.

Showery outlook

The mix of heavy showers and sunny spells continues on Sunday. The south and east have quite a warm day and temperatures possibly reach 23C (73F) in the south eastern corner.

By Monday the showers become more scattered. In the south eastern corner they could be thundery again. It remains quite warm in the south and east.

During the rest of the week the mixed weather continues. The likelihood of showers remains but there should also be some warm spells of sunshine.
