A change to showery weather takes place during the next few days as high pressure becomes centred further north. The weekend looks mixed and in the south showers could turn thundery. Despite that there will be dry and sunny periods. Similar conditions are expected early next week....READ IN FULL
Thursday starts dry and most of the UK will have another fine day. Sunny periods develops widely but there is likely to be more cloud than yesterday, especially in the west. Scattered showers bubble up in the north west and an odd one could be heavy. Isolated showers are also possible in the south west this afternoon.
Temperatures will be down on yesterday's. Vales range from 14C (57F) near the East Coast to 21C (70F) in western areas and northern Scotland. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight showers in the north west fade away but another batch moves westwards across southern and central areas. Elsewhere it will be dry.

Summer 2019 weather [NEW]
Tomorrow showery rain continues in the southern half of the UK. In the south west and South Wales there could be some heavy bursts at times. The north has a dry and warm day.

On Saturday showers become widespread. In central and north areas some heavy bursts of rain are likely. Southern counties probably have the best of the brighter periods, although isolated thundery showers are possible in the south east. The south has quite a warm day but the north will be cooler than recently.
The risk of showers continues on Sunday. The highest temperatures are again likely to be in the south east.
During the first half of of next week the mixed weather continues. Further showers are expected and in the south they could be thundery. Despite that warm spells of sunshine are also likely.
