Fine spell of spring weather

[Updated 08:20 11/05/2019]

Fair weather cloud

Sunday will be dry and bright across virtually the whole of the UK. It sets the theme for next few days as an area of high pressure becomes established and brings fine weather. Later in the week things change. A cooler northeasterly probably returns and the risk of showery rain increases....READ IN FULL

Sunday starts chilly and locally in the north there was a touch of frost overnight. The rest of the day will be fine in most of the country with just a low chance of an isolated shower bubbling up. In the afternoon sunshine it will feel warm.

Temperatures range from 14C (57F) to 19C (66F). See the rain radar for the latest view.

Summer 2019 weather [NEW]

Tomorrow the dry and quite warm weather continues. Cloud amounts vary but there should be plenty of sunshine. The highest temperatures could be in north eastern Scotland where 22C (72F) may be reached.

GFS, temperatures, 16:00 BST Mon 13th May

Drier and warmer for a time

High pressure remains the dominant feature of the weather through Tuesday and Wednesday. It keeps things settled and rather warm in most of the country. Daytime temperatures are expected to be between 18C (64F) and 22C (72F), although near eastern coastal counties remain cooler.

During the second half of the week the high pressure migrates northwards towards Iceland and Greenland. That leads to a cooler and cloudier northeasterly flow, with the brightest skies in the west. There is also a growing risk of showery rain as pressure begins to falls.
