Showers spread southwards today but parts of the south and west are likely to miss them. Tonight a major change takes places as wet and windy weather moves up from the southwest. The next few days will be unsettled but through the weekend it should turn drier as high pressure builds in from the west....READ IN FULL
Tuesday starts chilly with showers in places which in the main are focused on northern England and southern Scotland. During the day the push further south and east. However, parts of the south and west should stay mainly dry and bright. Northern Scotland has a mix of wintry showers and sunny spells.
Temperatures range from 7C (45F) in Scotland to 16C (61F) in brighter parts of the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight wet and windy conditions move up from the southwest. By the end of the night they affect much of England and Wales. Scotland and possibly Northern Ireland remain drier with just a few scattered showers.

Summer 2019 weather [NEW]
Tomorrow morning outbreaks of rain affect most areas and it will be quite windy. The northern half of Scotland probably remains drier. In southern counties brighter conditions return but heavy and thundery showers break out.

Thursday and Friday bring a mix of sunny spells and heavy showers. It remains cold in the north but in the south it will feel warmer during sunny spells.
By the start of the weekend a chilly northerly air stream returns as low pressure pulls away eastwards. Initially there will be showers but high pressure is expected to build in from the west and bring more settled weather.
By early next week high pressure is expected to become centred to the east of the UK and southerly flow develops. That should lead to a significantly warmer period.
