Heavy showers become more widespread today but there will be spells of warm sunshine in the south and east. Tomorrow Arctic air sweeps southwards and it becomes a lot colder in all areas by the start of the Bank Holiday weekend. In the north showers turn wintry even at low levels and accumulations of snow are possible over the hills. By Monday it could turn wet in the north....READ IN FULL
Thursday starts with rain in the far south east but most of England is dry and bright. In Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland it is a showery picture. Through the day the risk of heavy showers spreads extends across most areas, although not everyone will catch one. Ahead of them warm spells of sunshine develop.
Temperatures range from 9C (48F) in northern Scotland to 18C (64F) in the south east. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight showers continue in the north and west. Elsewhere they fade away. It will be cold in Scotland with a risk of frost.

Tomorrow a band of cloud and patchy rain moves southwards. Much colder arctic air follows it and in the north heavy showers develop. They turn increasingly wintry with snow over high ground. A widespread is expected overnight in the northern half of the UK. In the south it may remain cloudier and less cold.

On Saturday central and eastern Britain have showers. In the north they could fall as snow at times, especially over higher ground. The west should be mostly dry. It will be cold for the time of year with temperatures struggling into double figures in the south. A widespread frost returns overnight and even in the south temperatures probably dip below 0C (32F) in hollows and valleys. In the Scottish Glens lows of around -6C (21F) are likely.
Sunday brings a lot of dry weather with fewer showers. However there is a risk of rain returning later on in the far north. After a very cold start it remains chilly but temperatures should be a little higher than on Saturday.
Bank Holiday Monday looks mixed.Wet conditions are possible in the north and they may push down into central regions. The south should be mainly dry. The north remains cold but temperatures in the south recover a little.
Next week it becomes milder. However it becomes increasingly unsettled too and there is the likelihood of significant rainfall.
