Enjoy faux summer this Easter

[Updated 07:20 20/04/2019]

Parasol

The rest of the Easter period will be fine and very warm in much of the UK. The exception is the north west where disturbances brushing in from the Atlantic bring the risk of rain. Next week a major change is expected as cooler and showery weather returns to all areas. The mixed theme probably continues into May....READ IN FULL

Saturday starts dry across virtually the whole of the UK. The rest of the day brings warm sunny periods to England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland will be cloudier. Some patchy outbreaks of rain are likely, particularly in northern and western areas.

Temperatures range from 20C (68F) to 25C (77F) this afternoon in much of the UK, although the far north west stays cooler. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Buzz

Tomorrow it is a case of rinse and repeat. The risk of rain continues in parts of the north west. However, the majority of the UK has another fine and very warm day. Temperatures could reach 26C (78F) which is exceptionally or eggceptionally warm for the time of the year. It should be a classic for those Easter egg hunts as long as the chocolate doesn't melt!

Cooler and changeable next week

The summery conditions continue on Easter Monday in much of the country. However scattered thundery showers could develop in the south west. Temperatures again race upwards and exceed 21C (70F) quite widely.

Central and eastern areas probably keep the fine weather on Tuesday. In the south west showers break out and through the day they spread into Wales, Northern Ireland and western England.

During the rest of the week a trough is expected to become established over the UK. It leads to a more changeable and cooler pattern. Some dry spells are still possible with the best of them in the south and east.
