Fine and very warm Easter for many

[Updated 08:10 19/04/2019]

Easter eggs

The highest temperatures of the year so far are expected to be recorded today and tomorrow. Through the weekend there is a prospect of rain affecting the far north west at times but elsewhere it remains dry. Good Friday starts dry across the whole of the UK. After early mist lifts the rest of the day will be fine with warm sunny spells in most areas. It is likely to be the warmest day of the year so far, although near the east coast it remains cooler.

Temperatures range from 15C (59F) along the east coast to 23C (73F) in southern and central England. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow is set to be dry and sunny in southern and eastern areas. Northern and western areas probably have more cloud and in the far north west patchy rain continues. In the sunny areas temperatures could be close to a very warm 25C (77F).

Change next week?

Easter Sunday is looking very promising in England and Wales with a lot of warm sunshine. In western Scotland and Northern Ireland there is a risk of wet weather.

The fine and warm conditions probably continue on Easter Monday in much of the country. However scattered showers could develop in the south and the possibility of rain in the far north west remains.

Uncertainty about the rest of next week is high. In general terms a more changeable and cooler patter is favoured, however there is a chance of the warmth hanging around, particularly in the east.
