Fine weekend for many

[Updated 07:00 13/04/2019]

Frosty weather

Much of the UK has a dry and chilly weekend but there will be exceptions. In the south east scattered showers are likely today and tomorrow. Saturday starts with temperatures below 0C (32F) in much of central and eastern England. Northern and western areas are  generally a little less cold. The rest of the day brings dry weather to most areas but in the south east there will be scattered showers which could be wintry at times. Northern Ireland has cloudier skies but elsewhere there will be a lot of sunshine.

Temperatures remain on the low side for mid April. Values range from 8C (46F) in the east to 13C (55F) in the west. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow morning wet weather flirts with the south west and Northern Ireland, but it should fade away during the afternoon. Again there is the possibility of a few showers in eastern England. Other areas will be dry, however there is likely to be more cloud than today.

Changes next week

During Monday and Tuesday outbreaks of rain push into the west. In central and eastern areas the dry weather continues. It remains chilly in the north east but elsewhere it becomes milder.

Through the middle of the week high pressure over Scandinavia reasserts itself and all parts of the UK are expected to become dry again. It should be quite warm in the southern half of the UK.

Latest guidance for the Easter period suggests the likelihood of showery conditions in the south as low pressure pushes up from France. The north probably remains mainly dry. In sunny spells it will feel quite warm.
