Friday starts with outbreaks of rain in Wales and central southern England. Elsewhere it is mainly dry. Through the day heavy showery rain continues to affect western and south western areas. At times the wet conditions may extend into Northern Ireland and central England. In the far north east there could be some patchy rain too but elsewhere it should be mainly with more brightness than yesterday.

Temperatures range from 9C (48F) to 13C (55F). See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Easterly next week

Sunday looks mixed. Showery outbreaks of rain could be heavy in the east and during the course of the day they spread westwards across central and northern England. Scotland, Northern Ireland and the south west should be dry and bright. It will feel pleasant in sunny spells.

Next week the UK remains under an easterly flow. It is expected to become cold and showery again. There is a risk of snow in the northern half of the UK and even in the south a few flakes are possible.
