Magnolia in bloom

Much of the UK will be fine and warm today but a change is on the way this weekend. Cloudier conditions and patchy rain slowly spread southwards tomorrow and northern areas turn colder. Next week is looking showery and in the north snow could fall down to low levels at times....READ IN FULL

Friday starts dry and chilly in most of the UK but there is some light rain in the far north. Through the day patchy outbreaks of rain slowly push southwards across Scotland. Elsewhere it remains dry and bright with the best of the sunshine in southern and central areas.

Temperatures range from 10C (50F) in the north west to a warm 18C (64F) in sunny areas. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Tonight outbreaks of rain continue to edge southwards. By the end of the night they reach Northern Ireland and possibly northern England. To the south it remains dry and clear periods lead to the risk of ground frost.

Tomorrow morning the cloud and light reaches Wales and northern England. During the second half of the day it slowly moves into central and southern counties. Ahead of it there will be warm sunny spells and isolated showers. Brighter and colder conditions return behind it.

Colder and showery outlook

On Sunday it will be colder in all regions. There could be some light rain early on but the southern half of the UK should go on to have a mainly dry and bright day. In the north scattered wintry showers are possible.

Monday is looking bright and chilly in England and Wales. After a bright start across Scotland and Northern Ireland it clouds over and persistent outbreaks of rain push in. Over the mountains snow is likely.

By Tuesday colder and showery conditions push southwards across all regions. The showers could be heavy with hail and thunder in places. In the north they may fall as snow at times even at low levels.

The rest of the week is looking quite changeable and chilly. All regions probably have showers or longer spells of rain at times. In the north the risk of snow remains.
