Fair weather

Most of the UK has settled weather during the next couple of days. Cloud amounts vary but in sunny spells it becomes pleasantly warm. Thursday starts dry in most of the UK but there is some light rain in northern Scotland. Through the day there will be a lot of cloud in Northern Ireland and Scotland. In the far north some patchy rain continues and it will be windy. Elsewhere it remains dry and warm sunny spells develop.

Temperatures range from 10C (50F) in the north west to 18C (64F)  in sunny areas. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow high pressure leads to another dry and warmish day in much of the country. There will be outbreaks of rain in the far north and they steadily push southeastwards over Scotland. Temperatures will be similar to today's.

Colder at the weekend

This weekend colder air filters southwards. On Saturday showery rain pushes southwards and in the north it will be cold enough for snow over the hills. Southern counties probably hang on to dry and quite warm conditions.

By Sunday it will be colder in all regions. There could be some light rain early on but the southern half of the UK should go on to have a mainly dry and bright day. In the north scattered wintry showers are possible.

Guidance for next week suggests rather cold and showery conditions in the north. High pressure may keep it mostly dry in the south.
