Settled spell continues for most

[Updated  06:45 27/03/2019]

Fair weather

Most of the UK has settled weather during the next few days, although it remains more changeable in the north west. Cloud amounts vary but in sunny spells it becomes pleasantly warm. This weekend colder air moves southwards and next week is looking quite chilly at times....READ IN FULL

Wednesday starts dry in most of the UK but there is some rain in Scotland. Through the day patchy outbreaks of rain continue in western and northern Scotland. Elsewhere it stays dry. Sunny spells develop with the best of them in southern and central counties.

Temperatures range from 8C (46F) in Scotland to 14C (57F) in the south of England. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow it is a case of rinse and repeat. High pressure centred over the the southern half of the UK keeps the weather mainly settled. In sunny spells it will feel warm and temperatures could reach 18C (64F) in eastern England. The risk of rain remains in the far north where it will also be windy.

Colder at the weekend

Friday should be another dry and warm day for most. However, a change starts to take place as outbreaks of rain and colder air push down from the northwest into Scotland.

This weekend colder air filters southwards. On Saturday showery rain pushes southwards and in the north it will be cold enough for snow over the hills. Southern counties probably hang on to dry and quite warm conditions.

By Sunday it will be colder in all regions. Southern and central regions have a dry and bright day. In the north wintry showers are possible.

Guidance for next week suggests rather cold and showery conditions. In the north the risk of snow could return.
