Settled spell continues for most

[Updated  06:50 26/03/2019]

Fair weather

The settled weather continues in most of the UK this week, although in the north west it remains more changeable. Cloud amounts vary but in sunny spells it will be pleasantly warm. By the weekend colder and showery Arctic air moves southwards....READ IN FULL

Tuesday is off to a bright and frosty in many southern and central areas locations. The north is cloudier and less cold. Through rain the day patchy outbreaks of rain affect western and northern Scotland. Elsewhere it stays dry with a mix of hazy sunshine and cloudier periods.

Temperatures range from 8C (46F) in Scotland to 13C (55F) in the south of England. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Tonight it remains damp in Scotland. Other areas will be dry but with more cloud cover it probably won't be as cold as last night. However, clear spells in places could lead to a frost.

Tomorrow the north has cloudy skies for much of the time and outbreaks of rain continue to feed into western Scotland. Elsewhere it remains dry with the brightest conditions in the south. It will feel pleasantly warm in sunny areas.

Colder at the weekend

During Thursday high pressure remains in charge. It keeps the weather settled and warm in much of the country. Daytime temperatures could reach 18C (64F) in eastern England. In the north west a southwesterly flow brings thicker cloud and patchy rain

Friday should be another dry and warmish day for many. However, a change starts to take place as outbreaks of rain and colder air push down from the northwest into Scotland.

This weekend colder air moves southwards. On Saturday many places could see showery rain and in the north it will be cold enough for snow over the hills. Sunday looks chilly and bright for many but there could be wintry showers in the north.

The latest guidance for next week suggests an increasing chance of rather cold and showery conditions. In the north the risk of snow could return.
