The settled weather continues across most of the UK this week, although in the north west there will be wetter spells. The days are likely to be pleasantly warm but the risk of patchy nighttime frost remains. By the weekend colder and showery Arctic air moves southwards....READ IN FULL

Monday starts with a few showers in the north and west but it is mostly dry. The rest of the day will be fine and sunny in much of the country. Thicker cloud continues to bring scattered showers to Northern Ireland and Scotland.

Temperatures range from 8C (46F) in Scotland to 13C (55F) in the south of England. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow the fine weather continues in much of the UK. However Scotland has cloudier skies and in the west outbreaks of rain are likely. After a cold start it should feel pleasantly warm in the afternoon.

Colder at the weekend

During Wednesday and Thursday high pressure remains centred over the southern half of the UK. It keeps the weather settled and quite warm in much of the country. Daytime temperatures could reach 18C (64F) in eastern England. In the north west a southwesterly flow brings thicker cloud and patchy rain at times

By Friday the high pressure begins to migrate eastwards. That change allows colder and showery conditions to move down from the north this weekend. Next week high pressure probably builds again to keep things mainly settled.
