High pressure on the way back

[Updated  08:20 17/03/2019]

Snow covered daffs

All of the country has chilly and showery conditions today. Tomorrow there is a risk of rain but high pressure will be beginning to build from the southwest. The rest of the week looks increasingly settled and mild. The mainly dry weather could continue until the end of March....READ IN FULL

Sunday starts bright and cold in much of the country. There are wintry showers in the north and west and through the day they extend across all regions. Sunny spells continue but the showers become heavy and blustery, bringing a mix of rain, sleet and snow. Most of the snow will be over high ground.

Temperatures range from 5C (41F) in Scotland to 10C (50F) in much of England and Wales. When showers come along temperatures fall. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Buzz

Tomorrow starts frosty and bright in central and eastern areas. Patchy outbreaks of rain in the west gradually extend eastwards and at times they could be quite heavy. Further spells of rain feed into western areas later in the day. It will feel chilly.

High pressure builds next week

Through Tuesday and Wednesday high pressure becomes the dominant feature of the weather over the southern half of the UK. It leads to more settled and warmer conditions but weak Atlantic disturbances may bring the threat of cloudy skies and patchy rain at times. In the north there is a greater risk of wet and windy spells .

During the second half of the week high pressure remains close so it should be mainly dry. By the weekend temperatures may be trending downwards as colder upper level air filters southwards.
