Through the second half of the day cloud builds from the west and outbreaks of rain spread across Northern Ireland and into western Britain. Winds gradually ease but gales continue this morning.

Temperatures range from 4C (39F) in Scotland to 10C (50F) in the south. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Change on the way

Friday brings sunny spells and blustery showers to the north. Over the Scottish hills snow is likely. Southern and central regions have a mild and often cloudy day. In the south patchy outbreaks of rain are expected.

During the weekend the unsettled theme continues. On Saturday wet and windy conditions gradually spread southeastwards. The north has a mix of sunny spells and wintry showers. By Sunday the colder air pushes down across all regions. Wintry showers develop and in the north they fall as sleet or snow.

Next week a change to a more settled pattern is favoured. Temperatures are also expected to rise and in the south it may feel quite warm later on.
