Sunday starts with heavy outbreaks of rain and snow in northern areas. In the south it is bright but stormy. This morning wet weather pushes northeastwards and by the early afternoon it should have cleared away. Accumulating snow is likely in places.

Southern counties have bright spells but heavy showers pepper the west. It will be very windy this morning with wind gusts of between 50mph and 70mph for a time. This afternoon the gusts steadily ease.

Temperatures range from 3C (37F) in Scotland to 11C (52F) in the south. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Buzz

Tomorrow starts bright but chilly. Showers in the morning become increasingly scattered as a ridge of high pressure topples across the UK. Later in the day outbreaks of rain push into the north west and over high ground they turn to snow.

Mixed weather continues

On Tuesday a band of rain clears southeastwards. It is followed by a mix of sunny spells and wintry showers. All areas will be windy and in the north west gales are likely.

During the rest of the week it stays quite unsettled, especially in the north. In the south it may turn drier for a time but by next weekend quite cold and showery conditions probably return southwards.
