Wet weather for many today

[Updated  07:45 07/03/2019]

Shower clouds

Unsettled weather continues with all regions having showers or longer spells of rain in the coming days. It will be windy at times and cold enough in the north for significant falls of snow over high ground. Later next week a change to more settled and warmer conditions may begin to take place....READ IN FULL

Thursday starts with showery rain in the much of the north and south west. The wet weather spreads into central and southern regions during the day. There will be heavy outbreaks of rain, although it may stay mainly dry for much of the time in the south eastern corner and near the south coast. It will be windy generally and over high ground in Scotland snow is likely.

Temperatures range from 5C (41F) in Scotland to 11C (52F) in the south. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Buzz

Tomorrow begins dry and bright. Cloud steadily builds from the west and during the second half of the day wet weather moves eastward across all regions. Showery conditions follow it into the west.

Unsettled and chilly weather

The mixed theme continues on Saturday. Central and northern regions have sunny spells and wintry showers. Over high ground accumulating snow is possible. The south should have a good deal of dry weather.

On Sunday outbreaks of rain spread northeastwards and over the northern hills it turns to snow, leading to the possibility of substantial falls. Brighter and showery conditions follow in from the southwest during the course of the day. There is the a chance of it becoming stormy in the southern half of the UK. Forecast details are uncertain and currently there isn't cross model agreement on the development and track of low pressure at this time.

Unsettled and chilly weather continues next week. There are growing signs of it turning more settled and warmer during the second half of March.
