Unsettled weather continues for the rest of the week with all regions having showers or longer spells of rain. It will be windy at times and cold enough in the north for hill snow. The general pattern is looking stable in the short term but there are signs of it becoming more settled after mid-month....READ IN FULL
Wednesday starts wet in northern and eastern areas. This morning persistent rain clears from eastern counties but it continues in Scotland and over the mountains there will be snow. Bright spells develop in the south but showers break out and become heavy. This afternoon heavy showers push across much of the UK. More persistent outbreaks of rain and hill snow continue to affect Scotland.
Temperatures range from 5C (41F) in Scotland to a mild 13C (55F) elsewhere. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Tonight central and eastern England become mainly dry with clear spells. In other areas there will be heavy showers or more persistent spells of rain.

Tomorrow brings a mix of sunny intervals and heavy showers. At times the showers merge into longer spells of rain in northern and eastern England. Gales are likely in parts of the north and east. It will be cold enough for snow over high ground in the north.

Friday begins mainly dry and frosty. Cloud steadily builds from the west and during the second half of the day wet weather moves eastwards.
The mixed theme continues this weekend. Central and northern regions have sunny spells and wintry showers. Over high ground significant snow is possible. The south should be mainly dry on Saturday but the risk of showers or longer spells of rain increases on Sunday.
Unsettled and chilly weather continues next week. There are tentative signs of it turning more settled during the second half of March.
