[Updated  06:50 05/03/2019]

Magnolia

Unsettled weather continues for the rest of the week with all regions having showers or longer spells of rain. It will also be windy at times and cold enough in the north for hill snow. The general pattern is looking stable and there is a risk of it turning stormy this weekend....READ IN FULL

Tuesday starts with heavy showers in Northern Ireland and north western Britain. Elsewhere it is dry and there is a light frost in places. Through the day showery rain in the north gradually pushes eastwards across northern England and perhaps into southern Scotland. Over high ground it falls as sleet or snow at times.

In other areas it will be bright to begin with but cloud steadily builds from the southwest. Outbreaks of rain push into south western England and Wales this afternoon and extend across much of the south by the evening.

Temperatures range from 6C (43F) in the north to 12C (54F) in the south. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Unsettled and stormy weather

Thursday brings a mix of sunny spells and heavy showers. At times the showers merge into longer spells of rain in the east and north east. Gales are likely and near the east coast there is the possibility of severe gales. It will feel cold.

The unsettled theme continues for the rest of the week. All regions have further rain and it stays cold enough for snow over high ground in the north at times. This weekend there is the potential for it to become stormy. Some computer model runs are showing 80mph wind gusts in the west.
