[Updated  07:00 03/03/2019]

The Atlantic remains in charge of the UK's weather this week bringing showers or longer spells of rain to all regions. At times it could be cold enough for snow in the north. The general pattern is looking stable and probably remains in situ through the first half of March....READ IN FULL

Monday starts with showery rain in Scotland and the north east. This morning it clears and sunny spells develop across the UK for a time. However, showers quickly push into the south west and by late morning they reach Wales. Through the afternoon showery conditions spread northeastwards into much of the country, but Scotland probably remains dry. The showers will be heavy and blustery, especially in the north and west.

Temperatures range from 6C (43F) in the north to 11C (52F) in the south. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

This evening it becomes drier and under clearing skies a frost develops in central and northern areas. Later in the night further showers move in from the west. The heaviest ones are expected to be in Northern Ireland and north western England but a few are possible elsewhere. Over high ground in the north they fall as sleet or snow.

Buzz

Tomorrow wintry showers continue in northern England and Scotland. In the south there should be a reasonable amount of sunshine in the morning. During the second half of the day wet and windy weather pushes into the south west and Wales. Temperatures will be similar to today's.

Unsettled weather continues

Wednesday is looking unsettled. Heavy outbreaks of rain push northeastwards and over the Scottish mountains they turn to snow. Brighter conditions follow into England and Wales but heavy showers develop. It will be windy. The north remains chilly but southern and central regions have a mild day.

The unsettled theme continues through the rest of the week. All regions have showers or longer spells of rain and it remains  cold enough for snow over high ground in the north at times.
