The weather will be very unsettled this weekend and tomorrow Storm Freya brings the likelihood of travel disruption in places. Next week all regions have further wet and windy spells. Colder air gradually pushes southwards and there is a risk of snow in the north at times....READ IN FULL
Saturday starts mild but there are patchy outbreaks of rain in the east. This morning wet and windy weather pushes across Northern Ireland. Elsewhere it should be mainly dry and some spells of sunshine develop. Through the afternoon heavy rain and strong winds spread across most areas but it should stay dry in south eastern England. Brighter and showery conditions follow into the west. Gales are likely in much of the north and west.

Tonight outbreaks of rain move into southern counties. Central and northern regions have clear spells but in the north west there will be heavy showers. It remains windy with severe gales in the far north west of the UK.

Tomorrow Storm Freya is expected to bring severe weather and disruption. Heavy outbreaks of rain steadily spread northwards and probably reach Northern Ireland, northern England and southern Scotland in the afternoon. Over high ground in the north snow is likely and there could be significant accumulations. Drier conditions return to southern and central Britain during the second half of the day. Central and northern Scotland remain mainly dry.
It will be windy across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The strongest winds probably affect the south west and Wales. In exposed parts of the the south west gusts could exceed 80mph. Through the night the area of strongest winds transfers northeastwards as Storm Freya pulls away into the North Sea.

On Monday outbreaks of rain clear from southern counties to leave a mix of sunshine and heavy showers. In the north the showers turn wintry and fall as snow over high ground. It remains windy. The north has quite a cold day and in the south temperatures will be lower than recently.
The unsettled theme continues through the rest of the week. All regions have showers or longer spells of rain and it will be cold enough for snow over high ground in the north.
