Continuing to feel warm not mild

[Updated 08:30 24/02/2019]

Fine weather

The unseasonably weather continues for the next few days as the UK remains under a southwesterly air stream. There is a risk of rain in the far north west but other areas will be dry and often bright. Tomorrow temperatures could further and a new February record could be set in Scotland....READ IN FULL

Sunday starts dry across the UK with patchy fog and frost. During the rest of the day there will be sunny periods in southern and central counties. In the north and west cloud builds but it should remain dry through the daylight hours.

After the chilly start temperatures quickly rise and range from 12C (54F) to 16C (61F) this afternoon in much of the country. Values in Scotland will be a little lower. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Tonight patchy outbreaks of rain push spread across Northern Ireland and western Scotland. There will be a lot of cloud in the north and west. Clear spells in the south and east could lead to some fog and a touch of frost forming by the morning.

Buzz

Tomorrow little changes. Very warm upper level air bathes the UK and if anything temperatures could be a little higher than today's. There is a possibility of the new Scottish February temperature record which was set last Thursday being beaten. Sunny periods develop widely with overcast conditions mainly restricted to the far north west.

Springlike weather continues

The warmth persists through Tuesday and Wednesday as high pressure stays centred to the southeast of the UK. Atlantic disturbances could bring some patchy rain to the far the north west, but elsewhere the springlike period goes on. The highest temperatures probably transfer to the southern half of the country.

The highest UK February temperature on record is 19.7C (67F). It was recorded in Greenwich, London, in 1998 and there is a chance of it being challenged in the next few days.

During the second half of the week things change. High pressure declines and weather fronts from the Atlantic begin to make inroads. That suggests more typical conditions with closer to average temperatures and an increasing chance of rain.
