Buzz

Valentine's day is set to be dry in much of the UK but thicker cloud in the north brings the risk of drizzle. Southern and central areas have the best of the sunny spells. After a chilly start it becomes mild and quite springlike during the afternoon.

More changeable for a time

During Friday it turns wet and windy in the north west. Other parts of the country remain dry. It will be very mild and in the sunshine temperatures could reach an unseasonable 17C (63F).

Saturday sees spells of rain continuing in the north west. Elsewhere a lot of dry and very mild weather is likely.

During Sunday a band of rain pushes across the country although it may stay dry in the east until the evening. Cooler and showery conditions follow into the west.

Early next week looks mixed with a risk of rain. Temperatures should be close to the seasonal average in the north but it stays quite mild in the south.

Through the middle of the week high pressure builds from the south again, so the wet weather becomes increasingly confined to the north. In the south it could become very mild and springlike.
