The weather remains unsettled this weekend but winds ease today. The north has showery conditions but in the south more persistent outbreaks of rain are expected tonight and tomorrow. Next week high pressure builds from the south. It leads to a more settled and quite mild period....READ IN FULL
Saturday is off to a very blowy start and there are heavy showery outbreaks of rain in the north. Winds have been gusting between 40mph and 60mph inland and over 70mph in exposed western locations. This morning it turns drier in the north, although showers continue in the north west. Southern and central areas have bright spells but showers become heavier in the west and south west. Through the afternoon winds ease but cloud builds from the southwest.
Temperatures range from 4C (39F) in Scotland to 10C (50F) in the south. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Tonight outbreaks of rain spread eastwards across southern and central counties. Over high ground in Wales they could turn to sleet or snow. The north west has scattered wintry showers but much of the north has a dry night. Lighter winds allow quite a widespread frost to form in Scotland by the morning.

Tomorrow morning wet weather affects southern and central counties. Over high ground such as the Cotswolds and Chilterns there could be some sleety snow. In the afternoon drier conditions return from the west. The north has sunny spells but heavy showers probably push into Northern Ireland during the afternoon. It will be quite cold.

A ridge of high pressure brings quieter weather on Monday with frost early and late. Scattered wintry showers pop up in the north but much of the country has a fine day.
During Tuesday it turns wet and windy in the north west. Southern counties should be mostly dry. Temperatures will be close to the mid February average.
Through the rest of the week high pressure becomes increasingly dominant. It leads to a good deal of dry and quite mild weather, although the north west remains under a more changeable Atlantic air stream.
