Tuesday starts with fog and frost in much of the country, although to the south of London temperatures are generally a few degrees above freezing point. In Northern Ireland it's wet and through the morning outbreaks of rain spread eastwards, reaching western Britain by the middle of the day. This afternoon the rain pushes across much of the north and west, but central and eastern England remain mainly dry. Over the Scottish mountains snow is likely.
Temperatures range from 5C (42F) in Scotland to 12C (54F) in the south west. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Tomorrow morning it stays damp in the south eastern corner. Thursday is looking mixed. Wet and windy conditions clear eastwards and they are followed by a mix of sunshine and showers. Temperatures will be close to the seasonal average.
The rest of the week brings further unsettled periods. Wet and very windy weather affects all regions but there will be drier and brighter interludes too. Temperatures fluctuate between average and above average in the south. In Scotland it may turn colder during the weekend with an increasing risk of snow over the hills.
Next week high pressure is expected to build across the UK and collapse southeastwards into the continent. It should lead to a good deal of dry weather and it may turn very mild as a southwesterly flow develops.
