Monday starts with a band of wet and very windy weather pushing southeastwards across England. It sets the tone for the coming week with rain and strong winds, rather than snow and ice, being the main features of the weather in most of the UK. In the longer term there are signs of high pressure returning but temperatures will be determined by where it becomes centred....READ IN FULL
Monday starts wet and windy conditions in southern and eastern England. There are also outbreaks of rain and snow in central and northern Scotland. This morning the precipitation band in Scotland moves away eastwards to leave brighter skies. The rain in England clears from most areas too but it probably loiters in Kent and Essex until the early evening. Other areas have a dry day with sunny spells and winds ease.
Temperatures range from a cold 3C (36F) in Scotland to a mild 12C (54F) in the south west. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Buzz
Tomorrow wet weather affects much of the country. Outbreaks of rain are likely to be heavy in the north and west, and in Scotland they turn to snow over high ground. During the evening more persistent rain also moves eastwards across the southern half of the UK. The south west, Wales and Northern Ireland have quite a mild day but in other areas temperatures stay close to the February average.
Meteo France Arpege, rain - snow, 15:00 GMT Tue 5th February
On Wednesday wet weather probably spreads eastwards across southern counties. Central and northern regions have a good deal of dry weather, although in the west there could be scattered showers. Over high ground in the north it remains cold enough for snow.
The rest of the week brings unsettled conditions. Spells of wet and very windy weather affect all regions but there will be drier and brighter interludes too. Temperatures fluctuate between average and above average. In Scotland it will be cold enough at times for snow over the hills.
In the longer term there are signs of high pressure building to the south of the UK. If that scenario happens it could lead to an early taste of spring.
