Cold conditions continue today but it will be milder tomorrow. During the weekend an active weather front pushes southeastwards and chilly air from the northwest follows it. Next week the changeable and rather cold pattern continues. There could be some snow around but at this stage the risk is very uncertain....READ IN FULL
Thursday starts dry in much of the UK but outbreaks of rain are affecting Northern Ireland. There is also a patchy band of wintry precipitation moving southeastwards across England. This morning it clears southeastwards but it stays wet in Northern Ireland. The afternoon sees the rain spreads into northern Wales and the north west. On its leading edge in Scotland it may turn to snow for a time.
Central and eastern areas have another cold day with temperatures between 3C (37F) in the north and 6C (43F) in the south. The west turns milder and in the south western peninsula 11C (52F) could be reached. See the rain and precipitation type radar for the latest view.

Tonight patchy outbreaks of rain spread eastwards and over northern hills they could be preceded by snow. The rain will be heaviest in the north and parts of the south remain mainly dry. Temperatures rise but the east has a frost through the first half of the night.

Tomorrow morning outbreaks of rain clear eastwards. Bright spells develop but further patchy outbreaks of rain affect the north west of the UK and by the evening they become heavy in western Scotland. The main difference with recent days is it will be a lot milder. Temperatures in much of the country reach double figures.

Saturday looks very mixed. There should be quite a lot of dry weather in the south and east during the first half of the day. In the north west there will be showery rain and it quickly becomes more persistent in Northern Ireland. Through the second half of the day the rain spreads southeastwards, probably reaching the Midlands by the evening. Cooler and showery conditions follow behind it.
All regions have a windy and showery Sunday. It will be colder and in the north the showers turn increasingly wintry.
Next week the rather cold and changeable weather continues. Snow is possible at times with the greatest risk in the north and over high ground.
