Mild weather continues today but it will be turning colder tomorrow. During mid week wintry showers are possible in the north and east. By Friday more persistent outbreaks of rain move in from the Atlantic and in the north they could fall as snow. The longer term outlook is mixed but often quite cold....READ IN FULL
Tuesday starts with wet weather in western Scotland. More widely in the north, cloud is bringing drizzle in places. In southern counties clear spells have allowed frost to develop locally. During the rest of the day outbreaks of rain continue to affect western Scotland. Other western and northern areas have a lot of cloud and at times it brings damp conditions. Central and eastern England stay dry and some spells of sunshine are likely.

Tonight a band of wet and windy weather spreads southeastwards, reaching northern England and northern Wales by the morning. Colder conditions follow on behind, and showers increasingly turn to sleet or snow in Scotland. Southern counties remain mild and overcast.

Tomorrow outbreaks of rain push southeastwards and clear from the south eastern corner by the evening. The north has a chilly day with wintry showers and the colder air gradually filters southwards into central counties. Over the Scottish hills accumulations of snow are possible.

Thursday will be a cold day in all of the country. Eastern coastal counties have wintry showers and a few are possible in western and central areas. Many inland areas have a dry and bright day.
During Friday an area of low pressure pushes in from the west. It brings outbreaks of rain and in the north they may turn to snow and bring significant accumulations. There could also be some temporary snowfall in central areas, especially over high ground. The south has rain and in the south west it turns milder.
The weekend is looking rather cold. There will be scattered wintry showers but much of the country remains dry and bright. Quite a widespread frost is expected on Saturday night.
In the longer term it stays changeable and often chilly. There is a risk of snowfall, particularly in the north. Conditions will be more marginal in the south, but snow is not ruled out, especially over high ground.
