Central and eastern areas have a lot of dry weather today and tomorrow but in the west there will be patchy outbreaks of rain. Things change this weekend as Atlantic disturbances push eastwards across all regions. They bring wet and windy conditions and are preceded to be a period of snow in places....READ IN FULL
Thursday starts with outbreaks of rain in Northern Ireland and south western Britain. The wet weather may extend into southern Wales for a time before becoming patchier later on. The rest of the country has a dry day and some bright spells develop.
Temperatures in much of the UK will be around 5C (41F) to 7C (45F) this afternoon but in the south west it will be a little milder. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight the remnants of the rain fade away and clear spells develop across much of the country. It will be cold with a widespread frost.

Tomorrow central and eastern Britain remain dry and bright for much of the time, although near the coast and odd wintry shower is possible. In Northern Ireland outbreaks of rain develop in the afternoon and cloudier skies push into western Britain. Overnight the wet weather moves into western Britain and it is likely to turn to sleet or snow on its leading edge.

Through Saturday wet and windy weather spreads northeastwards across the UK. In central and northern counties the rain is probably be preceded by a period of snow. Significant accumulations of snow are possible, particularly over northern hills. Milder air will be pushing in from the west and by the evening snow is expected to be restricted to high ground in Scotland.
Overnight the rain clears from the west. Sunday should be dry and bright in the east but showers pop up in the west.
Next week rather unsettled weather is expected. Temperatures fluctuate around the December average.
