The meteorological autumn ends on a showery note today. Unsettled weather continues in the coming days and at times it will be colder in Scotland. The long range outlook is very uncertain this year, but the TWO winter forecast will try to cast some light on how things may develop when it issued tomorrow....READ IN FULL
Friday starts with showers in the north and west but the south and east are dry. During the rest of the day central and eastern England have sunny spells and it should stay dry. Elsewhere showers continue and in the north it will be windy.
Temperatures range from 7C (45F) in the north west to 11C (52F) in the south. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Winter 2018/19 weather - update 3
Tonight showers persist in the north west. Elsewhere it start off dry but cloud and rain steadily spread eastwards across Northern Ireland, Wales and much of England. In Scotland clear spells lead to a frost in places.
Tomorrow heavy outbreaks of rain clear eastwards with brighter conditions following from the west. Northern Scotland probably stays brighter and showery throughout the day. In the southern half of the UK it will be mild and windy.
Overnight and into Sunday morning another band of wet weather pushes eastwards across much of the UK. Clearer skies return behind it but heavy showers develop in the west. Scotland has quite a chilly day but elsewhere it will be mild or very mild.

Next week the unsettled theme continues. A conveyor belt of low pressure areas is expected to bring periods of heavy rain to the southern half of the UK. In Scotland colder and showery conditions are likely for much of the time and there is a risk of significant snow, especially over high ground.
