[Updated 07:00 27/11/2018]

Flood sign

The weather during the rest of the week will be a lot more unsettled than it has been recently. Frontal systems associated with Storm Diana push eastwards across the UK in the next 48 hours. They bring heavy rain and strong winds to all regions with the likelihood of travel disruption in places. It also turns much milder....READ IN FULL

Tuesday starts with scattered showers in the north east and rain in the south west. Elsewhere it is dry and there has been a patchy frost. Through the day an area of heavy rain and strong winds spreads northeastwards across much of the UK. Over high ground in the north snow is possible for a time. This afternoon drier conditions follow into the south west, Wales and Northern Ireland. Central and northern Scotland remain mainly dry and bright.

Much of the country has a rather cold day with temperatures ranging from 4C (39F) to 8C (46F) but it will be turning a lot milder in the south west. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Winter 2018/19 weather  - update 3

Tonight it becomes drier for a while but wet and windy weather in the south west quickly spreads northeastwards. It will be milder than recent nights.

Tomorrow Storm Diana will be centred to the west of Ireland. Bands of rain associated with it spread northeastwards and gales affect much of the UK. In exposed parts of the west gusts speeds of 70mph are possible and they could lead to travel disruption. Despite the storm it will be very mild for late November and temperatures could approach 15C (59F).

Mixed outlook

Through the second half of the week it remains unsettled. Further rain is expected on Thursday, although it may be drier in the east for a time.

Friday looks showery in the north and west but the south and east could have quite a lot of dry weather. Later in the day showers become more scattered as a weak ridge of high pressure builds in from the west. Temperatures dip back down towards the seasonal average.

The weekend is expected to be mixed. Mild conditions with showers or longer spells of rain are expected in the southern half of the UK. The north may stay colder and brighter.

Early next week it remains changeable. Mild and wet weather in the south on Monday and Tuesday probably spreads northwards through the middle of the week.
