The rather cold spell continues today and there will be further showers with most of them in the north. During the next few days the risk of rain increases in the south and in the north it remains showery. Next week a transition back to milder, wetter and windier conditions is expected to take place....READ IN FULL
Thursday starts showery in the north east but elsewhere it is dry. There has been a widespread frost overnight with temperatures falling to -5C (23F) locally in the south. Through the rest of the day showers push into Scotland and parts of northern England. Southern and central regions should be mainly dry and bright, but in the south west heavy showers are likely.
Temperatures range from 6C (42F) to 8C (48F) in most of the UK this afternoon but in the south west it will be milder. See the rain radar for the latest view.

Tonight showers continue in the north of the UK and the south west. Elsewhere clear spells lead to another widespread frost.
Tomorrow it's a very similar picture. Showers continue in Scotland, north east England and the south west. Over the Scottish hills they remain wintry. Other areas stay mainly dry but there is expected to be more cloud than today.

On Saturday outbreaks of rain probably become more widespread in southern counties. Elsewhere there will be sunny spells but wintry showers continue in Scotland. It stays quite cold, especially in the north.
By Sunday the wet weather in southern counties slips away, Showers may push into eastern counties and in the north they will still be wintry. It remains chilly.
Next week starts with high pressure centred over Scandinavia and much of the UK under a chilly easterly flow. During the middle part of the week a major change begins to take place as weather fronts move in from the Atlantic. They bring mild, wet and windy conditions.
