Fireworks

Unsettled conditions are likely in all regions later this week and it may become stormy. In the shorter term it will be very mild with rain mostly restricted to the north and west. A lot of the fireworks parties were held at the weekend but if you've saved yours for Guy Fawkes night itself the prospects are quite good. Thicker cloud could bring some drizzle to the northern and western parts of the UK but in most places it should be dry and mild.

Tomorrow rain develops in the west and it becomes heavier and more persistent in the afternoon. In central and eastern areas there could be some showery rain but it should be mainly dry and bright. It will be very mild with temperatures in East Anglia and south east England possibly reaching 18C (64F).

Stormy end to the week

During Wednesday wet and windy weather steadily pushes northeastwards across much of the country. Cooler and showery conditions follow on behind it.

Thursday is expected to be wet and windy in northern and western regions. Elsewhere it probably remains dry.

The rest of the week is looking unsettled. On Friday there is the potential for it to become very wet and windy as an area of low pressure in the Atlantic deepens rapidly and pushes towards the UK. The worst of the weather probably clears northeastwards during Saturday to leave brighter and showery conditions for the rest of the weekend.
