Elsewhere showers are possible but during the afternoon they become increasingly scattered. The west has sunny spells but central and eastern areas have more cloud than in recent days.

It will be rather cold with temperatures ranging from 5C (41F) in northern Scotland to 10C (50F) in the south. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Mixed outlook for all

Through Thursday wet weather probably affects much of the country. In central and eastern areas persistent outbreaks of rain are possible but it should be more showery in the west. It stays quite chilly.

On Friday a ridge of high pressure is expected to give dry weather to much of the country. Through Saturday that slips away into the continent and Atlantic disturbances bring outbreaks of rain to the north and west. It also become very windy, so there could be some problems for those of you planning fireworks parties. At this stage it looks as though it may remain dry and less windy in central and south eastern England.

New server infrastructure update

The TWO website and back-end app services were migrated to completely new server infrastructure on Saturday 28th October. The vast majority of the site is working fully but a few problems which would have challenged Hercule Poirot crept in as a result of the upgrade. They are being addressed.

Further information and notices will be posted on the website and Twitter (@TWOweather) during the next 48 hours.
