Meteo France Arpege, forecast rain, 16:00 BST Thu 4th October
On Friday a band of rain pushes down into northern England and Wales. Areas to the north of it have cooler and showery conditions. To the south it stays quite warm and bright.
During Saturday the wet weather moves steadily southeastwards. Colder and brighter conditions follow to the north of it, but the cloud and rain lingers in the south until the nighttime.
An area of high pressure building in from the west is expected to bring a dry and bright Sunday. There could be an early frost in central and northern regions, and it will be quite a cool day despite the sunshine.
Next week the high pressure cell transfers to the east of the UK. That allows disturbances from the Atlantic to feed rain into the north and west. The south and east should have plenty of dry weather and temperatures are set to rise as warm air is pumped up from the southwest.
