The next few days will be mostly fine in the southern half of the country. In the north it remains more changeable with a risk of showers or longer spells of rain at times. A similar set-up continues early next week but later on the risk of rain could extend southwards....READ IN FULL
Friday starts with scattered showers in the far north west but elsewhere it is dry. This morning cloud in the south begins to break and by the afternoon there should be a good deal of sunshine. In the north the opposite happens and cloud amounts increase through the day. Despite that there will continue to be bright spells.
Temperatures in the south will be lower than in recent days. Values this afternoon range from 10C (50F) in northern Scotland to 17C (63F) in southern England. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Tonight rain pushes into the far north of Scotland. Elsewhere it stays dry and in areas where clear spells form it becomes quite cold by the morning.
Tomorrow England and Wales have another dry and bright day. In Scotland and Northern Ireland thicker cloud brings some outbreaks of rain. Temperatures won't be far off the late September average in the south but the north has a chilly day.

Overnight the band of rain pushes southwards into northern and central areas but it fragments and fades away. Showery conditions follow into Scotland and southern counties of England probably remain dry with clear spells.
Sunday begins dry for most. During the day a band of showery rain moves into Scotland and then spreads southeastwards into north eastern England. Southern and central counties have another dry and bright day. It will be quite chilly, especially in the north.
Next week starts settled in the southern half of the UK. In the north lower pressure and a westerly flow leads to disturbances pushing in from the Atlantic. They bring the risk of some wet and windy periods.
By the middle of the week there is a chance of the more unsettled weather beginning to extend into central and southern counties. That is uncertain and it is possible that high pressure will continue to bring predominantly settled conditions to southern and central regions.
