Northern and western areas have a mixed Sunday but the south east will be dry and quite warm. Tomorrow a low pressure area, which is the remains of ex-Hurricane Helene, pushes northeastwards on a track that is expected to take it close to Ireland and western Scotland. Sunday starts dry in central and eastern England but elsewhere there are showers or more persistent spells of rain. Through the day the outbreaks of rain in northern England and Wales push southeastwards but they becomes fragmented. This afternoon they affect south western England and central counties. Areas to the north have scattered showers and to the south east it remains dry with warm spells of sunshine.
Temperatures range from 10C (52F) in the north west to a warm 24C (75F) in the south eastern corner. See the rain and lightning radar for the latest view.

Tonight cloudy skies and patchy rain push into southern England. Elsewhere it will be mostly dry but late in the night wet weather spreads into the far north west.
Tomorrow wet and windy weather affects the north west but elsewhere it should be dry and bright. Ex-hurricane Helene will be approaching from the southwest and that leads to warm air being funnelled up towards the UK. In central and southern England temperatures could reach 25C (77F).

Through Monday night and into Tuesday Helene is expected to track northeastwards on a path that takes it close to Ireland and western Scotland. That brings very wet and windy weather to parts of the west and north with gusts of over 70mph possible. Winds also strengthen in areas further south and east but there it is probably stays dry and warm.

Through Tuesday winds gradually ease. Central and eastern areas have a dry day with sunny spells, but in the west cloud builds and outbreaks of rain return.
The rest of the week looks changeable. The northern half of the UK has wet and windy spells and at times they may spread southeastwards. However, the predominant theme for southern counties is a dry and rather warm one as high pressure builds back.
