Meteo France Arpege, forecast rain, 16:00 BST Mon 3rd September
On Tuesday the remnants of the disturbance which brought Monday's rain may keep it cloudy in southern England but it should be mostly dry. High pressure will be building in from the west and with cooler air flowing around it temperatures are expected to be lower than in recent days.
Wednesday is looking dry and bright in England and Wales. In Scotland and Northern Ireland there is an increasing risk of a cloud and rain. Temperatures will generally be close to the early September average.
Through Thursday and Friday it looks as though a cool northeasterly flow will develop as high pressure becomes centred to the north and west of the UK. Some computer model runs are showing a deep area of low pressure spinning up over the North Sea and that has the potential to deliver a wet and windy spell of weather. At this stage the details are very uncertain.
